Class Information
Hebrew History (Grades 5–8)
This Hebrew History course is designed to develop an understanding of the origins, identity, and legacy of the dark-skinned Hebrew people of the Bible. It offers middle school students (5th–8th grade) a comprehensive, engaging exploration of biblical history—tracing the journey of the Hebrews from Genesis to Revelation. This course emphasizes a contextual approach to the Bible, helping students analyze major events, figures, and writings in their historical, cultural, linguistic, and geographical context.
What Students Will Learn:
Each class will cover: - Major historical and biblical events (e.g., the Exodus, Babylonian captivity, the rise and fall of the Hebrew kingdoms, the ministry of Christ, and the diaspora). - Key Hebrew figures (e.g., Abraham, Moses, David, the prophets, the apostles, and others from both the Old and New Testaments). - Biblical writings and their contexts (e.g., the Torah, Psalms, Prophets, Gospels, and Epistles), analyzed for historical and cultural meaning. - Geography of the biblical world and Hebrew migration patterns. - Cultural and linguistic elements, such as Hebrew language roots, idioms, and ancient Near Eastern customs. - This course is essentially a biblical exegesis for young learners, encouraging students to ask questions, analyze texts, and understand scripture within its original context.
Class Experience:
This class is designed to foster engagement, spark curiosity, and encourage creative thinking. We’ll use a variety of interactive tools—including slides, videos, discussions, and games—to connect with learners.
Teaching Qualifications & Approach:
As a certified teacher with over 13 years of experience in education (6 of those teaching middle school and biblical history), I bring both passion and professionalism to this class. I create a welcoming, discussion-driven space where all voices are encouraged. While I maintain structure, my teaching style is laid back and student-focused. I believe in positive reinforcement, and I ask thoughtful questions to foster deeper understanding. - 13 years in education, including 6 years teaching middle school - Experience teaching biblical history to middle schoolers - Certified educator, highly experienced in curriculum development for this age group - Expertise in exegesis, biblical geography, and cultural history of ancient Hebrews
Rules of Engagement:
At the start of class, we will establish or review respectful discussion norms. Students will be encouraged to express ideas grounded in fact and respect. No hateful or derogatory language is tolerated.
Homework Policy:
Students will upload homework before the start of class, and we will review it together during class time. No out-of-class grading or communication will be expected. Students of all experience levels are welcome—no prior biblical or Hebrew history knowledge is required.
This course provides an accurate, engaging, and culturally rich introduction to the dark-skinned Hebrews of the Bible, designed to foster curiosity, comprehension, and cultural identity through careful analysis of scripture and history.
